Tobacco Cessation Services

Are You Ready to Quit Tobacco Use?
The Tobacco Cessation Program facilitated by Eastern Idaho Public Health is designed to help you stop using tobacco product. We provide FREE and Informative Support Groups to help you quit. Individual or group sessions are available. These services are funded by Idaho Department of Health and Welfare through its Tobacco Prevention and Control Program.

Groups are targeted to the following individuals wanting to quit:

  • Pregnant Women
  • Women with Infants
  • Youth
  • Adults

The Tobacco Cessation groups cover:

  • Nicotine addiction and habit
  • Consequences of tobacco use
  • Benefits of being smoke-free
  • Information and tips on how to quit
  • Dealing with withdrawal symptoms
  • Coping strategies
  • Managing stress through relaxation techniques
  • Nutrition and exercise, avoiding weight gain
  • Social supports
  • How to become a non-tobacco user for good!

Idaho QuitLine: 1-800-QuitNow (1-800-784-8669)
Help to quit smoking is now just a phone call away. The Idaho QuitLine is a FREE telephone counseling service designed to help smokers quit. This confidential service connects tobacco users with trained counselors who guide and support them through the process of becoming tobacco-free. Available 24-7, except for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Idaho QuitNow
QuitNow is a FREE internet service that can help you quit smoking.It offers expert advice on quitting, online support from other smokers who aretrying to quit and information about medications that may make quitting easier. QuitNow is available 24-7.

FREE Nicotine Replacement Therapy
Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) - the "patch", lozenge, or gum is available at no cost to individuals who enroll in either phone-based tobacco cessation counseling with the Idaho QuitLine (1-800-784-8669) or in web-based (internet) counseling with Idaho QuitNow. You must be 18 years or older to qualify.

Idaho Medicaid Preventive Health Assistance (PHA)
Eligible individuals can earn PHA vouchers to help pay for tobacco cessation products such as Chantix at a participating vendor or PHA vouchers toward weight management program fees at participating gyms. Call 1-877-364-1843 to learn more and see if you qualiify.
