Clinical Specialist

Eastern Idaho Public Health is seeking a part time Clinical Specialist (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) in our Idaho Falls office.


Position:  Clinical Specialist
Hours: part time, 4 hours per week, weekdays

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Incumbent's primary clinical focus is women and men's reproductive health, including but not limited to family planning/birth control, breast and cervical cancer screenings, and diagnosis and treatment of sexually transmitted infections. This involves initiating, performing, and interpreting screening for laboratory tests and prescribing medication in accordance with established protocols.

DUTIES:

  • Provide reproductive health care services including diagnosis, treatment, prescriptions, and patient counseling. Order testing if appropriate.
  • Provide consultative services to other staff in areas of specialty.
  • Manage patient's medical care and minor illnesses with referral outside Health District if indicated.
  • Counsel clients concerning medical problems and alternatives.
  • Promote coordination of services between other personnel and program activities.
  • Provide work direction to other staff members.
  • Evaluate service provision to assure effective and efficient services.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Eligibility for registration as Physician Assistant with the Board of Medicine or Nurse Practitioner with the Board of Nursing.
