Eastern Idaho Public Health has an opening for a full time Customer Service Representative 2 in the Nutrition/WIC Division in the Idaho Falls office.

 
Position:  Customer Service Representative 2
Hours: Full-time, Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m - 5:00 p.m.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide direct customer service in person or over the phone as a primary part of the job.

  • Describe program requirements and client rights and responsibilities.
  • Schedule appointments and work cooperatively with WIC staff to solve complicated schedule issues.
  • Complete a WIC certification which includes determining eligibility by reviewing required paperwork and performing in-depth interview to gather sensitive information such as income, food insecurity, substance abuse, medical concerns, and breastfeeding problems. 
  • Perform clinical duties which include anthropometrics and a finger poke to test for hemoglobin levels.
  • Use participant centered skills, critical thinking skills, motivational interviewing and good judgment to complete a nutrition assessment, provide nutrition education and complete a care plan.
  • Determine when appropriate referrals are needed to WIC registered dietitians, breastfeeding peer counselor, medical provider, immunization program, parents as teachers’ program, family planning and other social service programs including but not limited to the food bank, soup kitchen, SNAP, housing, substance abuse.
  • Research and analyze information to make decisions and resolve complicated issues as they relate to participant’s nutrition needs, benefits issuance, breastfeeding needs and social service needs.
  • Assist with program outreach and other duties as assigned.
  • Contact clients about program services.
  • Input data into multiple computer programs.
  • Attend and participate in meetings and trainings.
  • Must have a valid driver's license, auto insurance and be able to use district cars to travel to satellite offices.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Some knowledge of interviewing methods.
  • Experience interpreting, explaining, and applying regulations, laws or complex policies to carry out assignments; accessing data using a computerized system; independently handling complaints and upset individuals in a business setting; conduction sensitive fact-finding interviews. 

Preference will be given to bilingual (speak, read, write) Spanish/English

Occasional travel to satellite offices.
