Disease Investigators | Contact Tracers

EIPH is now hiring in our Idaho Falls office to support local public health efforts in the fight against COVID-19. Positions begin immediately, are temporary and non-benefitted. Work up to 40 hrs./week. Work will be required on weekends and evenings. Background in health, epidemiolgy, and nursing preferred. Pay will be commensurate with education, experience, or expertise. Preference will be given to bilingual/Spanish speaking applicants.

DISEASE INVESTIGATOR:

  • Investigates cases of COVID-19.
  • Interviews cases and contacts and reviews associated information in order to locate the source, carriers, and spread of disease related to the disease incident.
  • Refers affected cases to appropriate diagnostic facilites for examination and treatment.
  • Maintains appropriate confidentiality and security of information created or encountered in the course of assigned duties.
  • Promotes uniform investigative methods and reporting procedures with physicians, laboratories, and community health facilities.
  • Prepares and submits manual and computer-based reports.

Applicant should have knowledge of: overall public health practices and procedures; cause, spread, and control of communicable diseases; investigative and interviewing techniques and procedures; documenting and reporting activities, using computer-based systems; communicating effectively; and establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others.

CONTACT TRACER:

  • Call contacts of newly-diagnosed cases of COVID-19 to prevent further spread of disease.
  • Communicate with contacts in a professional and empathetic manner.
  • Collect and record information on symptoms if appropriate.
  • Refer contacts to testing according to protocol.

Must have ability to exhibit a professional, positive attitude, and work ethic. Contact tracers will be expected to maintain appropriate confidentiality and security of information.
