Registered Dietitian Senior

Eastern Idaho Public Health District has an opening for a part time (24-29 hours per week) Registered Dietitian Senior to provide nutrition counseling and education to WIC clients and coordinate the Breastfeeding Program. The position is based in our Idaho Falls office.
 
Position:  Registered Dietitan Senior
Hours: 24-29 hours per week, Monday - Friday

Starting Salary: $21.28 per hour + depending on experience

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBLITIES:
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates nutrition-education programs; arranges and conducts nutrition-education material for clinic and classroom training; conducts training sessions for community and special interest groups; provides nutritional technical assistance to groups; collects and analyzes dietary history and assesses needs, develops care plans and counsels clients; provides outpatient counseling on normal and therapeutic diets; provides follow-up to referring physician; coordinates activities with community organizations; assesses nutritional status and feeding skills of clients on referral including home visits; assesses nutrient content of meals served, insuring quality and program requirements are met; issues food vouchers, schedules appointments and makes eligibility determination for program acceptance; resolves questions with grocers holding voucher contracts; writes operations reports and closes out month-end records; confers with staff and explores ways to enhance service delivery; prepares education material for media release.
  • Evaluates program goals and develops plans and procedures for service delivery in compliance with federal, state, and agency directives; trains and supervises clinic and related staff; coordinates program services with community organizations; supervises contract personnel; confers with other registered dietitians to enhance service delivery; develops grants, proposals, program budget requests, and activity and expenditure reports.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certification as a Registered Dietitian by the American Dietetic Association; and eligibility for licensure in the State of Idaho as a Dietitian in accordance with Idaho Code.
  • Good knowledge of; food service management and program planning and evaluation; education principles and methods as applied to nutrition.
  • Experience identifying dietary problems related to nutrition intake; analyzing and evaluating nutrition data; adapting nutrition counseling and educational, and economic backgrounds of clients.
  • Experience using a Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) pre-planned program.
